HOW I'M TAKING CARE OF MYSELF THIS YEAR

Over the years, I’ve taken on some pretty ambitious New Year’s Resolutions. There’s nothing wrong with that, but they can be tough to maintain. I do love the reset that a new year can bring, but as we move through the beginning of 2023, I’ve tried to be a little more intentional with setting realistic and practical ways for me to take care of myself on a daily basis.

FAVORITE HALLOWEEN ITEMS '22

Halloween is coming up fast, and I am beyond excited. I love summer, but the last few months of the year bring me so much joy. The weather cools down, chunky sweaters come out, the festivities begin, etc. Since the season is officially beginning, I’m thinking about decorating for Halloween in the coming days, and here are some of my favorite finds to welcome in the holiday.

SUMMERTIME SKINCARE ROUTINE

Summer can often mean we’re out in the sunshine enjoying the outdoors day after day, but taking care of your skin during that time can be tough. Sometimes the heat dries out my skin, or the sun exposure can cause damage. This summer, I’ve tried to be proactive about maintaining a routine that would combat those things and actively hydrate my skin.

5 YEARS MARRIED

I think it’s safe to say we are officially out of the newlywed phase and halfway to an “old married couple”. I always hated the comments from onlookers early on in marriage of “just wait, it will wear off soon” or “you’ll see one day, you’ll like each other less.” Sure, there are ups and downs, but I chose a partner that I can move through the ebbs and flows of life with. In tune with last year’s posts, here are five things that I’ve learned in five years of marriage. (P.S. Happy anniversary, Cooper!)

MY SUMMER READING LIST | 2022

I don’t think I ever read for enjoyment until I was 20. Before then, I’d fall asleep trying to get through required school books until I finally just looked up the spark notes version. My love for reading was rekindled in the last year and part of that was wanting to make it a part of my nightly routine. I thought I’d share my summer reading wish list with you.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner on Sunday, May 8, and I know how hard it can be to find the perfect gift for those people in your life that you care so deeply about. While a gift will never be able to express the full gratitude we have for the mothers in our lives, this is a day where we can show some of that appreciation and make them feel special and loved!

MEGAN LEARNS TO COOK: SNACKS

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in a household where there wasn’t a huge emphasis on healthy snacking, so I usually went for the bag of chips, cookies and cheddar snack type of treat. Although I’ve broadened my horizons to enjoying foods past what I used to eat at recess, I still fill my pantry with Flamin’ Hot Limon Cheetos and Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies from time to time. I think those types of snacks are totally okay, but maybe not ideal for my everyday. The idea of a “snack” can sound like something you make for a kid, but I usually need a little more fuel to get me from lunch to dinner.

7 TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

I’ve been traveling a little more recently which has got me thinking about the things I usually need to have on a long flight or time in an airport. I’ve perfected this list over time, so I hope these prove useful to you on your next trip! As always, feel free to drop by Instagram and let me know if you agree, have things you like to bring that aren’t on this list or just to say hi!

FASHION/BEAUTY ITEMS I’M BRINGING BACK TO MY WARDROBE

I think we’re all familiar with the way that fashion trends seem to resemble a sort of cycle: they’re in one decade, out another. In the past couple of years, 90’s fashion was the defining trend until Y2K started to make its comeback. Now, there are definitely some pieces that I’m ready to leave in the past (low-rise jeans seem to be everyone’s enemy), but here are a few items from my childhood that I want to bring back into my life.
