A Q&A with Megan all about the making of her new album “Christmas Morning”. We discuss what the process was like, why she wanted to make this album, and what inspired her while making the album…
As some of you know, I just finished a tour with Jeremy Shada, and if you were following along on Instagram, you know that it was a blast! He is such a talented individual and a great friend, so hitting a few cities and opening up for him was a dream.
I know the blog has been inundated with a lot of fashion and lifestyle content recently because, let’s be honest, I love it! But another huge love of mine is music, and it has been for all of my life. In 2021, I created a Songwriting Guide because I wanted to begin sharing some of what I have learned in my time as an artist in the music industry.
Almost two years ago I made the move from California to Tennessee! Although I’ve loved that decision, some consecutive gloomy days led to me writing “Sunshine.” I went in to collaborate with my friend Alex and had the word “sunshine” on my mind the entire drive to my writing session.
As a songwriter, I’m always looking for things to inspire a new song, but that spark is often hard to come by. I hit slumps where I don’t want to write or don’t know what to say. Other times, the perfectionist in me gets in the way, stifling creativity entirely. Everyone gets stuck sometimes, so here are some practical ways I find inspiration when I feel I’ve hit a roadblock.
A whole decade has passed since I released my first song “B-e-a-utiful.” A song that actually changed my life. Still a teenager wanting to be in love, I gathered around the computer with my family as I made my first original live on YouTube.
Merry Christmas, y’all! I can’t believe this year is wrapping up. Before it’s officially 2021, I had to leave you with a new holiday song! I hope you enjoy my version of “Deck the Halls” and the music video for it! I hadn’t filmed a video with other human beings besides my husband since early February of this year, until this video! I hope you all have a nice holiday filled with rest, love, and peace.
The set up process for Twitch was actually not super straight forward, so I thought I’d explain it here in case any of you are ready to start your own channels! Cooper is the expert when it comes to this, so I had him help me out with the basics and equipment!
It’s been almost 10 years since I released my first song, so while I’m not some sage old grandma full of life advice, I hope these few things can help specifically for any young musicians out there!
15 minutes before I had to hop on a call, I looked over to Cooper (my husband) who was sitting on the couch with a guitar and said “let’s write”.
NEW COVER! It really has been a while since I’ve put out a fully produced cover. After 10 years of uploading covers, you really just want to focus on writing your own music, but I was feeling inspired when “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer greeted my ears while shuffling through songs. I wanted to combine this lighthearted song with some dreamy lo-fi vibes.
Almost a year ago, I released a little EP called “My Kind of Party” and on that EP there was this song. I performed this song a few times acoustically last year and thought it would be fun to do it again for a video. Plus, I always love getting the chance play music with Cooper.
I honestly can not believe it’s been ONE YEAR since I released my EP “My Kind of Party”! Honestly, there are still so many music videos I want to make from those songs. The songs from this mini album quickly became some of my favorite ones to perform, especially “Take Me Back”.
I was worried I was running my voice down, so I went to see a doctor just to check in on my vocal health. I thought it would be cool to learn even more about vocal health after that experience and bring some questions I had to a Pathologist.
