JUNE RECAP (ACTING, BAKING, AND CURRENT FAVES)

It feels like life is flying by me lately, and I’m struggling to keep up. And for the first time ever, I may have the summer blues? (Is that even a thing?) But it’s almost been too hot to do anything, and I desperately need a pool. It seems all my ideal summer plans are harder to do when the heat takes over everything…

But the heat aside, June was really good to me! I saw some dreams turn into a reality, enjoyed some great family time, and found myself some nostalgia-filled days.

She’s A Voice Actor

It’s been a dream of mine to be a voice actor. I was lucky to have a friend that introduced me to an agency, and I’ve been auditioning like crazy for a couple of years! From commercials to audio books, video games, and animation… And I finally booked my first role!! (Outside the last VO I did for a Netflix show yearssss ago before I decided to fully pursue it). I am so excited. I can’t share anything until it’s released, but it’s a *possible recurring* role on a kid’s show lots of people are familiar with/grew up with. It was such a fun morning of recording. I swear I could hear my heart beating through my headphones and hoped no one else could hear it. I’m really familiar with being in a recording booth, but this was all new territory. The character was so bubbly and clumsy, and I loved getting to play her! It felt so good to have some confirmation after what felt like an eternity sending things into the abyss.

Rainforest Cafe

I finally did it. I lived out my childhood dreams and stepped back into a Rainforest Cafe. If you aren’t familiar with the chain, do yourself a favor and do a light Google on it. The ambience was everything I remembered about it. Slightly uncanny animatronic animals, aquariums, and the occasional “thunderstorm” as you eat most definitely previously-frozen food under a faux tree canopy. I’m not gonna lie, it was probably some of the worst food I’ve maybe ever had?? And I got pasta thinking it would be a safe bet, but there was no sauce flavoring to be found.

But did I get a pint of beer with a take home souvenir glass, so I think it evened things out. The wave of nostalgia was well worth it, and I would go back again with friends wanting to experience the fuzzy feelings from childhood again. But next time, I’ll pass on the pasta.

megan Learns to (Bake) Journey

My baking journey continues! This month, I made orange cupcakes with buttercream frosting, a take on a danish with peaches (but shaped more like a loaf of a bread), and together with my sister, the true expert at baking, I learned that making a chocolate souffle is actually not that hard?? I don’t know why I’ve been intimidated by them! I’ve also been in my caesar salad phase and have made homemade dressing twice this month. It’s so good and so easy! I’m also happy to report I may have made my best tortillas yet recently, and they are actually round.
