10 AT HOME VALENTINE'S DATE IDEAS
If you are going to be spending Valentine’s Day at home this year (like me), here are some date ideas to still make it special!
Mini Drive-In
Bring the drive-in movie theater to you! I got this idea from my sister and her husband who did this for a date night recently. Pull your car out from the garage and project your movie onto the garage door while you watch from car. Fill your back seat with blankets and pillows and don’t forget your favorite movie snacks!
”mail” love letters
When I was a kid, my mom got my sister and I these small, metal mailboxes to put outside our rooms. She would fill them with encouraging notes, or just use it as a fun way to say hi. My sister and I would do the same for each other. I thought, why not take that same concept and make them little love notes. Set up little mailboxes somewhere in your home and when you think of it, leave a little note for your partner to read.
”Thanks for the coffee today <3”
”You make a great dog parent <3”
You can even make a date out of customizing the mailboxes by my painting and decorating them to add your own style!
bake
I’m not a huge baker, but I’ll have moments when I want to bake everything I’ve ever pinned or seen on TikTok. Baking with someone else always makes it more fun. Throw on a cute apron and try making some heart shaped goodies. I found this heart shaped pan that makes sweet treats even cuter.
Try out these baked good recipes, perfect for Valentines!
indoor picnic
If the weather is still a bit chilly, set up a little indoor picnic! Lay out a blanket, and set out an array of your favorite treats. Add a little vase with flowers and pull up a YouTube video of a serene setting so you can take your picnic anywhere you want.
treat yourself
Did you know you can order food from some of your favorite spots around the world straight to your home? Whether it’s Macaroons from Ladurée Paris, or Cookie DŌ from NY, you can have all sorts of goodies shipped straight to your door! Check out some of their Valentine’s Selections
hike
My first Valentine’s with my husband, we went on a hike and it sort of became a tradition each year after that. Hiking is always a favorite way of mine to get out and feel like I’m on a mini adventure. With travel not on the horizon anytime soon, it can be nice to explore what’s around you and get some fresh air!
I love to use All Trails to see what hiking trails are around me! It also rates their difficulty level, so I can choose a trail based on what I’m in the mood for.
Some cute hiking gear:
Listening Party
Listen to a record with some wine and cheese.
Play a record you both love, or each pick a favorite record for a little listening party. One of my favorite dates used to be digging through dollar bins at record stores, then going home to listen and decide who had the best find. Listening to music is always a fun date, especially when it’s accompanied with food and maybe even a little dancing.
A VACATION TO THE LIVING ROOM
Switch up the room you sleep in for the night and have a little staycation! Bring out sleeping bags or an air mattress and build the ultimate blanket fort. You can even spend the night under the stars minus the outdoors with a star projector!
Disneyland at home
If you love Disney like me and have been wanting a little Disneyland fix, why not bring it to your home?
I somehow just learned about Disneyland Adventures! It’s an interactive game where you can walk through the park, play games inspired by some of your favorite rides, and meet characters! After you play the game, listen to a playlist of your favorite Disneyland tunes while you have a Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar!
If you are in the mood to make one of Disneyland’s famous treats yourself, try making churros or dole whip!
End the night with a classic Disney movie or a video of their famous fireworks!
TWO PEOPLE GAMES
Board games and video games are some of my favorite ways to spend an evening! Try something cooperative or let your competitive side show. Maybe add some stakes: Winner gets to pick the next movie you watch.
Here are some fun two-person board games to try out:
- CODE NAMES DUET
- SUSHI GO
- EXPLODING KITTENS
- HARRY POTTER GAME
- YAHTZEE
And my favorite co-ops on the Nintendo Switch:
- MINECRAFT
- STARDEW VALLEY
- UNRAVEL 2
- OVERCOOKED
- LUIGI’S MANSION 3
- GOOD JOB!
