7 ITEMS I HAVE MY EYE ON FOR VALENTINE'S DAY THIS YEAR
I know there are a lot of mixed feelings around this particular holiday, but I’ll say it: I LOVE Valentine’s Day. Even if it is just a corporate ploy to get us to all buy more things we don’t need, I am a complete sucker for the aesthetics! The hearts, the pink and red combo, the cute little cards with cheesy puns and stuffed bears…I’m here for it all.
It’s a holiday I’ve loved since I was a kid and somehow managed to not be burned by. Even during the cruelness of middle school and high school, when all the popular kids would walk around with flowers from their admirers the week of Valentine’s. You know, like that Mean Girls scene with the candy canes, but make it carnations. Let’s just say I was not the Glen Coco type.
I think the reason I’ve always enjoyed this holiday, aside from the glorious color palette, is because to me it’s always been about celebrating all sorts of love! Not just romantic, but showing appreciation for close friends, parents, even my doggos! Plus, I’m a “gifts are my love language” person, so I’m never mad at receiving a thoughtful little something. I want Valentine’s all year! Whether through a pink and red sweater, cute heart earrings, fresh flowers I buy for myself, or taking more moments to send a card to someone I care about, just because.
