JANUARY RECAP (2024)
It’s the first month of a new year, and honestly, it’s been off to a pretty strong start! I’ve been getting back into the flow of creating again, as well as streaming and recording for the pod. I’m excited about what’s ahead, but first, I’ll share some highlights from this month!
Snow days
We got snow in Nashville! It’s starting to feel more like the norm here, since each winter I’ve been here, we’ve gotten a decent amount of snow for the area. Compared to other places that continue on through the snow, our city isn’t fully prepped for this type of weather, so it usually results in a lot of things shutting down. I don’t think I ventured out for 5 days because of our icy roads! Thankfully, we were all cozy inside and got to enjoy the weather while it was here. I always love how bright the nights are when everything is blanketed in snow. For a moment, it makes the mundane seem a little more magical. Even a mailbox looks better with snow draped on it. I loved bundling up in my snow gear and just laying in the snow for a moment and getting some sun. It felt like laying on a memory foam mattress.
Thrifting Finds
I’ve gotten some really special pieces this month! From some super cute skirts, cozy sweaters, and tops to some really nice frames and an oil painting I love! I’ve been slowly collecting artwork and prints to add more personality to my empty walls. I also found some glassware and little trinkets like a cherub figurine. I do love ornate, ever so slightly gaudy, details in moderation. I’ve wanted to consume less new and more pre-loved, and I feel like through that new habit I’ve been able to figure out my own personal style more! It’s been a fun journey and I’m addicted to the rush of coming across a special treasure with stories behind it.
Conversation Hearts
You know I love a good V-Day vibe, so when it came to a nail refresh this last month, I asked for conversation heart nails, and the extremely talented nail artist I see delivered (as she literally always does)! They bring me joy even as I look down at them while I type this. Getting my nails done might be my favorite “treat myself” thing to do. The conversation heart aesthetic continued this month with The Fuzzy Pod Valentine’s Day photoshoot we did! I’m excited to share those photos soon (and also do a little Valentine’s Day card giveaway).
Cheese Please
I finally went to Culture & Co in January! It’s been on my list for a while. You sit at a bar while a conveyor belt of different cheeses finds its way around you. Besides the great company of my mom and sister, we enjoyed so many delicious cheeses and their pairings (from bread to homemade corn nuts, dried meats, etc. My favorite had to be the classic aged cheddar or the bruleed brie! And to top it off, it is a woman-owned (mother-daughter) duo that runs it, and we love to see it!
Feels Like 2014
I really want to get back into creating music videos for my YouTube again! I had so much fun creating the music video for Sleigh Ride, it made me want to get back into posting on there again. And so we started the month out strong with not one but two new covers! I’m looking forward to sharing those soon.
