4 SPRING EXPERIENCES YOU'LL LOVE
Spring is finally here, and while I’m certainly looking forward to going on my very own spring picnic with friends and family, there are a few other things I’m looking forward to as well…
As most of you know, I used to live in LA before moving to Nashville, and it’s still one of my favorite places. In fact, I’m in California a few times a year, so I try to be intentional with my time on each visit and plan out a few new or familiar outings! So I just wanted to dedicate a blog post to a few of those spring experiences that two of my favorite cities have to offer this time of year. And if you’re not able to visit either of these cities this season, maybe this will inspire you to do some research about what your city offers!
NAshville
Tennessee Craft Fair
I have never been to the Tennessee Craft Fair, and oh my goodness! It seems like such a fun, family-friendly event. They have live demonstrations and hands-on crafts, and the best part about it is that it’s completely free! It’s held at Centennial Park, and this year you can go on May 5th, 6th, or 7th. You’ll be able to meet all the artists as you shop around and browse the beautifully handmade art, and even if you don’t get anything, you’ll meet some wonderful people and spend a day in the sunshine. There are also food options, so you won’t go hungry!
Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival
This is another event that I’m not familiar with, but excited to try this year. The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival will be held in the Nashville Public Square this year on April 15th, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Japanese culture, art, food, music, and more. So many different vendors will be there as everyone gathers to celebrate spring! This event is also free and there are a variety of parking options, so I’m definitely going to try to make it out to this festival this year.
California
Carlsbad Flower Fields
The Carlsbad Flower Fields, located south of Los Angeles, are a favorite for Californians and out-of-state visitors (really anyone and everyone). You’ll need to purchase a ticket early if you’re planning on visiting because everyone has the same idea in spring, but if you can go, you’ll love it. Imagine flowers upon flowers upon flowers, all blooming in the most stunning way. If the tickets sell out or you’re not able to go to these flower fields for some reason, California has a couple other experiences to offer that are similar to this one, like the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.
The Huntington
If you love museums and beautiful blossoming flowers, The Huntington in Pasadena, CA is an amazing way to spend a gorgeous spring day. Admission is $25 on weekdays and $29 on weekends for adults, but the extensive galleries and gardens are truly so amazing. You can go anytime of year, but when the flowers begin to bloom, the air smells fragrant, and with the benches placed throughout the gardens and galleries, you can sit and just drink in that sense of serenity. I’m hoping I can make my way to The Huntington this year, even if I can’t make it during spring!
