MEGAN’S PUPPY ESSENTIALS KIT

We have absolutely been loving our new puppy Kirby, but he is definitely a lot of work! It’s been a few years since we’ve raised a puppy, so we’re learning that our must-haves now are a bit different from back then. Obviously this isn’t everything, but these are the things that I’ve noticed are really making a difference for him. Every dog is different though, which is why it’s nice to just browse different pet stores and sites to find what works for you and your new addition to the family. Without further ado, my very own puppy essentials kit!

  • Kong toy is great for a teething puppy. Just add peanut butter to entertain them and give them a treat!

  • We’ve crate trained all of our dogs, and at this point its a safe place for all of them. Our dog Zlatan will even put himself to bed some nights when we are up too late for him. To make the transition more cozy, the snuggle pup with heartbeat makes them feel like they have a buddy with them.

  • A cozy bed is must and our dogs have always loved good donut bed, so this had to be part of the puppy essentials kit for me. I like how easy they are to move around as well, so the dogs can be in the room with us while we stream, make dinner, watch tv, etc.

  • Tasty treats for training are a must-have. These are more pungent, but Kirby loves them! We use them as a reward for basic command training. I think we may need to up the snacks for potty training though. (We might give small bites of cheese a try.)

  • We’ve loved the playpen, and it’s been a cozy place for Kirby as well! We keep it in a common area and usually put him in the playpen to eat or when we are needing to work but can't keep a sharp eye on him. He’s still at the age where he wants to eat basically anything he sees, so you really can’t have enough chew toys in your puppy essentials kit…

  • I’m a huge fan of wild one products and everything that comes in their walk kit - poop bags, harness, leash. They’re stylish, cozy, safe, and easy to clean.

  • I also picked up these cute bowls from target, and Kirby really seems to love eating out of them.

  • You may have noticed the collar with the bell. Although it’s technically for cats it’s been nice to hear when he’s up in the night or sneaking up behind us since he’s a tiny guy

He does chew on absolutely everything, so just know that some of these things will probably become a little worn and torn as time goes on. But they are working for us so far and holding up pretty well. This puppy essentials kit might change with time, but for now these are my must-haves for sweet, little Kirby!
