THE TOP FIVE THINGS I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SPRING

It’s a pretty gloomy day in Nashville as I write this post, but colorful wild flowers are starting to reveal themselves once again. It has me ready to jump into spring! With dreams of spring on my mind, I thought I’d share my top five for spring 2023.

Lavender and Green

A pastel and a color that reminds me of the grass coming back to life after winter may not be the most groundbreaking, but I’m ready to incorporate more of these colors into my life this spring! I’m actually really loving the combo of a light purple and borderline lime green together. It feels a little nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood bedroom, covered in green, pink, and purple. Plus, I feel like these colors can work well with lots of other shades, so if you’re feeling one more than the other, that’s perfect too! I just love incorporating color into every outfit I can.

Novelty Accessories

I’ve mentioned this before, but I would love to continue bringing novelty accessories into the spring! It’s time my strawberry bag made an appearance again and fun floral earrings. It brings an element of play to my wardrobe and can bring warmth to an otherwise more simple outfit. Plus, I love searching for items such as these in unexpected places. Thrift stores, estate sales, your mom or aunt’s box of jewelry that she’s looking to get rid of… Part of the fun is finding the treasure, and it makes me smile when I imagine these quirky pieces having a whole life before they land in my lap.

Picnic with Friends

With the weather warming up, it’s a great time to spend more time outside (even if my allergies hate me). This spring I want to be more intentional about soaking up some sunshine, and what better way to do that than a picnic with friends! I used to think that it needs to be a whole thing, with a perfectly manicured spread and all the fixings, but the truth is, simple can sometimes be the most enjoyable. With a simple homemade sandwich and a bag of fruit from the fridge, you can take yourself and your friends on impromptu picnics without all the fuss. (But let’s be real — sometimes the fuss is fun.)

Mocktails

I love a good cocktail, but sometimes I just want a fun drink without the booze. This spring I want to learn some more mocktail recipes, specifically ones that involve fresh berries! It could be fun to make a big batch for a picnic as well, and this way everyone can partake. I especially loved making those cocktails last summer that I shared here on the blog, so maybe I’ll bring those back and try them with a twist!

Put a Bow on It

I like big bows, and I cannot lie. Ribbons and bows were a huge part of my daily hairdo growing up, and I’ve had a lot of fun slowly bringing them back into my daily looks. A big pony with a ribbon detail or a half up half down with a bow sitting on the back makes certain looks feel more complete. It’s also a great way to tie color into an outfit. Maybe I can try bringing lavender or green bows into my spring looks…
