HELLO, 2023!

There are a lot of feelings that fly around as one year ends and a new one begins. For me, I feel mostly excited when each chapter closes because there’s something I love about “a fresh start.” At the same time, it can bring some gloominess when I think about the things I didn’t do but hoped to.

The last week of the year, I like to look back at what happened. Looking back can remind me of some of the downs, but often I’m reminded of a lot of the little moments that slipped by but were special to be reminded of. A special meal, a beautiful view, or a road trip with people I love. It can also remind me of the things I did accomplish and should be proud of, even if it wasn’t my “ideal” year.

I’ve heard lots of takes around New Year’s resolutions. Not to mention, I was pretty confused for a minute around the difference between resolutions and goals and intentions, etc… It can be overwhelming. Some people have strong feelings against the idea of them, which I could understand. I think for me, making a list of goals has always been a win. Sometimes, I don’t always complete a goal in the timing I give myself (I’m looking at you, summer reading list), but when I look back at lists past, its really cool to see how many of those things came to be. I think it helps to put them at the front of my mind and even use it as a time to dream, because you really never know what’s possible.
